A folder containing forty-three letters to Father Hubert Condron CP

A folder containing:

  1. A photocopy of a page of a book in S. Angelo Retreat, Vetralla, Italy: the handwriting of Dominic Barberi when he was eighteen and learning Latin. He practised writing his name, the date of his birth and some quotations from Sacred Scripture. [The decorations on this page are like those in vol.1 of the Aston Platea, 1842 onwards.]
  2. A picture, 1831, of a coach at the Star Hotel, Oxford
  3. A photocopy of a letter, 3 April 1845, from Thomas Constable to his cousin, Marmaduke Constable Maxwell, in which he refers to Fr Dominic’s having preached at Myddelton Lodge, Ilkley, brought there by the writer’s Uncle Peter. The original of this letter, Arundel Castle MS. (E) is in the East Riding County Council Record Office, County Hall, Beverley, York.
  4. The original of a letter, 13 September 1849, from Fr Anthony of St James Testa, Superior General, to the Passionists in England. On the back is a letter to Fr Gaudentius Rossi, telling him that, if Father Ignatius Spencer has still not returned, he is to translate the letter and send a copy in both Italian and English to each community, with instructions that it is to be read immediately and also once a month.
  5. A carbon copy of a paper by Fr Federico CP on Papal Infallibility according to Ven. Dominic of the Mother of God. No date but between 1911 and October 1963.
  6. A photocopy of an Italian MS. By Vincent of St Joseph about Blessed Dominic Barberi, undated but after October 1963
  7. A letter, 20 March 1964, to Fr Hubert from someone at SS John and Paul’s, Rome, probably Fr Conrad Charles CP. Name not given.
  8. A letter, 23 September 1964, from Dr G. Sanderson, Liverpool to Fr Hubert Condron CP
