Photocopy on an A4 page of a small 4 page booklet, entitled "The Church in Glenmalure" by Fr. Myles Ronan to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Church at Greenane. In it, Fr. Ronan states that Fr. Kavanagh built the chapel at Clara. This seems to be the basis foir that hitherto held belief, now deemed not to be true. This item was kindly supplied by Fr. Padraig McCarthy, The Presbytery, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow.

ARTICLES AND TALKS RE THE KAVANAGH MSS:
photocopy of an article entitled "An Unpublished Eighteenth Century Franco-Irish Manuscript" published in "Studies (Sept. 1939) by Dr. Richard Hayes. This article contains some interesting facts, such as an explanation as to how Kavanagh came to be ordaind before he had begun his priestly studies, casts some doubt on Kavanagh's strictures concerning one of the superiors of the college at Nantes, Fr. John Walsh, and gives telling information on a Fr. Richard Ferris to whom Kavanagh wrote offering his services so that he could remain in France. This copy of the article was supplied to the archives through the good offices of Gerard Lyons, Manuscripts Department, National Library, Dublin

SECONDARY SOURCES; Printed Articles:
article from "Wicklow People" entitled "Church of Sts. Michael and Mary" commemorating the centenary of that church situated in Rathdrum. It is of particular interest because of its reference to the statement of the historian Fr. Myles Ronan, that it was Fr. Kavanagh, former parish priest of Rathdrum, who rebuilt the church at Greenane, restored the church at Macreddin and built the church at Clara Vale. Reference is also made to Fr. Kavanagh being the builder of Clara Vale in "Reportorium Novum" copy of which was received from the Archdiocesan Archivist (see item at 8/4/3/13 serial no 7110).
