re Edenmore
Dear Mother de Pazzi,
I am afraid this letter is just bad news. Mr McAuley the
Cerporatlon Valuer called on me to-day and explained to me that the
Corporation could not at this stage include Kelly's house and farmyard
In the present transaction. The Corporation has given Kelly a definite
undertaking not to disturb in his occupation of the house and farmyard
until they acquire all his lands - about 60 acres on the other side of
the road. The arbitrator has been asked to fix the price of Kelly's
house and farmyard on the assumption that he will not be disturbed in
occupation until the land is taken also. The Corporation will have to
honour that undertaking. Accordingly unless the Corporatlon acquire
Kelly's lands they cannot take Kelly's buildings. Tne Corporatlon may
never acquire Kelly's lands or it may be years before they do so. The
Corporation proposes that we submit an offer for Edemmore alone ot
£9800. If you refer to the copy of our letter of I9th October to Mr
McAuley parggraphs 1 and 5 would now have to be altered to read as
follows;-

  1. The purchase money to be £9800 to include Edenmore as shown on
    the map.
  2. Possession of Edenmore to be given on acceptance of this offer
    by the Corporation.
    9 Harcourt Street
    Dublin C.19.
    I5th November 1956.
me most that can be done about Kelly's house and farmyard
now is to get the Corporation (if possible) to agree to sell these
to you in due course if the Corporation acquire same the price to be
£2200 and to include the piece of land which will be enclosed by the
    new road when made.
I shall be glad to have your instructions. I am sending a
copy of this letter to His Grace the Archbishop for his information.
    Yours sincerely,
    R. RYAN
