Fergus, C.P., to the Bishop of Achonry, Dr. James Fergus, concerning the intention of the Province to build a more becoming monastery than that now ccupied at Cloonamahon, together with a church, (see item under serial number 8723). St. Joseph's Retreat, Cloonamahon: Collooney: The Sligo Champion: article by Owen Tweedy on the history of "Coney Island" in Sligo Bay which gave its name to Coney Island, New York. The island in Sligo Bay was part of the dowry of Olivia Doran who married Tom Meridith of Cloonamhon in 1788. It was taken over by the Land Commision in early 1900s.

The bishop requests that a stop be pout to a collection, which, he has been informed, is being organised locally in aid of the Passionist Fathers, as it is violation of the 1943 agreement signed by the Congregation.
